Hitler's Hit Parade is a composition of archival footage from movies, amateur-, animated-, and educational films, commercials and propaganda - accompanied by dance and popular music from the Third Reich. Hitler's Hit Parade subtly analyses the enticing components of highly progressive, extremely modern Nazi Germany, and how a cultivated people could be reduced to a moral and physical heap of rubble as a result of the Nazi madness. The Galicia Jewish Museum invites you to an exclusive screening of this thought-provoking film. Introduction in Polish and English. 60 years ago, the Nazis began the final evacuation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by marching thousands of prisoners from Auschwitz to railway depots and camps in the Reich. The Galicia Jewish Museum invites you to a meeting with Halina Birenbaum, a survivor of the marches. This will also be the occasion to launch the Galicia Jewish Museum's new maps of Plaszow and the former ghetto.

60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Nazi camp

The main official commemorations begin at 2:30 PM at the Auschwitz II-Birkenau site. Former prisoners will speak first. Then the presidents of Poland, Israel, and Russia will make remarks. The program will also include ecumenical prayers and homage to the victims through the lighting of candles at the monument. Prisoners will perform this symbolic act first, followed by the presidents and heads of government in attendance. At the conclusion, a composition prepared especially for the occasion by Krzysztof Knittel will be performed by musicians and vocal artists including Cantor Joseph Malovany. Because of the winter conditions and the low temperatures and winds that usually prevail at the site, the ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes. The artistic director is Jerzy Kalina, and two working groups from Warsaw and Cracow are handling the detailed preparations. Broadcasters from many countries will televise the ceremonies.
